Altcoin support zones depend on Bitcoin's next move

Best Altcoins To Buy When Bitcoin Goes Lower [Buy Targets]

Key takeaways

  • Selected Investments considers Bitcoin's weekly uptrend intact, with further downside and a short-liquidation rebound both possible.
  • AERO's nearer support is 76 to 79 cents, with a deeper conditional zone at 66 to 68 cents.
  • The analysis puts UNI's lower zone at $6.00 to $6.50 and NEAR's deeper levels at $4 and $3.50 to $3.75.
  • Previous consolidation and resistance explain many targets, but those areas do not guarantee renewed buying demand.
  • The AI sensitivity ranking uses September-to-October observations rather than a fixed relationship between Bitcoin and altcoin returns.

I read Selected Investments' altcoin analysis as a set of scenarios tied to Bitcoin, rather than a list of prices the market must reach. The creator considers Bitcoin's broader uptrend intact. Their lower altcoin targets depend on further weakness, while a recovery would leave some of those levels untested.

Bitcoin sets the conditions

Bitcoin retreats from $87,000 toward $80,000, then trades around $82,000 after briefly reaching roughly $80,300. That low appears as a wick, the thin part of a candle recording a price extreme, and falls within the analysis's support area of $80,000 to $81-ish thousand. Buying has previously slowed declines around support, but a brief recovery there differs from repeated closes below it.

The weekly chart still has higher lows, meaning successive pullbacks stop above earlier troughs, and Bitcoin remains above its 50-week moving average. That average smooths past prices to make the trend easier to read. These observations underpin the creator's expectations that the bull market is underway and the $58,000 low is behind Bitcoin.

I would keep those expectations separate from the chart evidence. The May 26th high around $82,000 and the weekly candle close are the next reference points in their scenario: a retest could precede a move higher. An intraday recovery cannot settle where the weekly candle will finish.

The Coinglass liquidation map adds another possibility. It puts about $750 million of long leverage near $80,000 and $3.5 billion of short leverage near $85,000. Longs bet on rising prices; shorts bet on falling prices. Exchanges can forcibly close either when losses exhaust the required collateral.

The creator's rebound scenario rests on shorts being liquidated, just as the decline liquidated longs. Those concentrations can change as traders adjust positions, so I regard the map as potential pressure, not a route the price must follow.

How to read altcoin buy targets

Falling prices can make investors hesitate; rising prices can make them fear missing out. Predefined chart areas offer a way to avoid improvising every decision. The sentiment snapshot here shows the crypto Fear and Greed Index moving from about 70 in the greed zone to 55 in the neutral zone, consistent with the creator's description of enthusiasm giving way to caution.

I find the distinction between a lower price and better value more useful than that sentiment reading. A token can fall after a rally and still have weak prospects. It can also suffer a painful pullback without losing its uptrend. Neither price history nor sentiment establishes future demand.

Much of this analysis uses consolidation areas, where prices have traded repeatedly within a relatively narrow range. Former resistance, where selling stopped a rise, can become support after a breakout if buyers return. That is a hypothesis to check against the next visit, not a guarantee from an old chart line.

The creator's chart-reading sequence is:

  1. Start with a daily or weekly chart to establish the broader trend.
  2. Examine the four-hour chart for a closer view.
  3. Use the hourly chart if more detail is useful.

I would keep the higher-timeframe trend in view rather than let a small rebound dominate the assessment. Their Uniswap position-sizing example uses a hypothetical $100 allocation, with 20%, or $20, initially and further entries at other levels. It illustrates gradual accumulation, not a prescribed allocation. Splitting purchases reduces dependence on one entry price but does not prevent losses if the asset keeps declining.

Aerodrome and Uniswap have different setups

Aerodrome shows relative strength in this analysis: it holds up better than Bitcoin during the pullback. Repeated buying responses appear between 76 cents and 79 cents, while resistance sits around 87 cents. The deeper scenario is 66 to 68 cents if nearer support fails during a broader market flush, near a 50-day moving average around 64 cents. The creator keeps that lower zone as a contingency rather than an expected destination.

I see an important difference between those scenarios. The nearer zone assumes recent buying persists; reaching the deeper one would mean that defense had failed. It would bring new evidence of weakness, not just a lower price.

Citrini Research's case for Aerodrome is a higher-beta exposure to tokenized stocks, meaning greater sensitivity to broader market moves. Tokenized equities aim to provide exposure to shares, though the rights depend on the product's structure. The cited catalysts are an October 21st expansion to Ethereum, expansion onto Robinhood chain and tokenized equities on Base. Citrini's opinion is that AERO does not yet fully reflect the upside from expansion.

The creator also raises selling the news: traders may buy before an anticipated event and take profits when it arrives. I would separate a project's development from its token's price response, particularly when expectations have already attracted buyers.

UNI has a weaker chart. It reaches about $11 before retreating to $7.37, a roughly 30% decline from the September highs in the analysis. Losing short-term support around $8.60 weakens the earlier structure. The lower scenario is $6.00 to $6.50 if Bitcoin keeps falling.

A bounce at $7 lines up with earlier resistance, but the creator regards that support as relatively weak. Their alternative is that a Bitcoin recovery to $87,000 prevents UNI from reaching the lower zone. AERO holding its range and UNI losing support are different setups, even under the same Bitcoin outlook.

NEAR and Akash after sharp moves

NEAR Protocol and Akash Network fall under the creator's artificial intelligence theme. That explains their place in the selection, but the technical question remains where buyers have previously appeared.

NEAR trades at $4.72 after a low around $4.30. Its advance begins at $1.60 in August, and it remains about 200% above those lows. I agree with the narrow mathematical point behind the analysis: a substantial pullback need not erase a larger rally. The earlier gain does not establish that the decline is finished.

Resistance sits from $5.30 to $5.50, with a possible consolidation band from $4.30 to $4.60. The constructive scenario assumes Bitcoin stabilizes around $82,000 to $83,000 before rising, allowing NEAR another attempt at upper resistance. If Bitcoin rolls over instead, the lower reference points are $4 and then $3.50 to $3.75. The creator does not necessarily expect the deepest range.

Akash trades around 74 cents after moving between 84 cents and 67 cents. An older consolidation area spans 63 cents to 67 cents; a recent wick reaches that range before a rebound. The creator expects it may continue within its channel before another breakout attempt.

I would distinguish a quick buying response from a sustained recovery. Weaker rebounds or more time near the lower boundary would warrant a less optimistic reading of the same area. For theme-driven tokens, enthusiasm can also outpace durable demand: an AI narrative does not establish why users need a token or how activity translates into demand for it.

Venice and Zcash test earlier ranges

Venice returns to support around $21 to $23 after reaching $34 in late September. The area held consolidation before the later rise. Its roughly 3x advance since July leaves earlier entrants with substantial gains, and the creator attributes the pullback to Bitcoin's decline and profit-taking.

I would not infer every seller's motive from the chart. Profit-taking is plausible, but several pressures can act together. The creator's investment case also rests on substantial Venice usage and continued interest in privacy; general demand for privacy cannot establish a particular token's price.

Zcash rises from around $100 in March to $1,700 before reaching a low around $1,100. That lower area overlaps consolidation before the breakout, with the 50-day moving average around $1,200. The analysis describes the decline from the high as about 28% and regards the chart as technically interesting, with the next move dependent on Bitcoin.

These rallies leave holders with gains who may add selling pressure during a retreat. I would also be wary of crowded expectations: previous support can fail when too many traders rely on the same level.

The post argues that Aerodrome's expansion potential is not yet fully priced into AERO. Screenshot from the video by Selected Investments, at about 13:43.

Chainlink's reference area is $12 to $12.40, overlapping earlier support and resistance. LINK has moved back above its 50-day moving average. The favorable reading rests on these chart references pointing to the same neighborhood.

Traders call overlapping signals confluence. I find it useful for organizing evidence, but historical levels and a moving average both come from the same price series. They are not fully independent confirmations.

Edel is a tokenized-equities project built on Canton. An Edel Finance post reports more than $3,000,000 cleared across QQe and SPYe. The reported progression starts at $0, reaches $1 million in 6 days, adds the next $1 million to reach $2 million in 48 hours, and reaches $3 million in less than 36 hours after that.

The creator's interest rests on that activity growth and their claim that order books are deepening. Order books contain outstanding buy and sell offers; deeper books generally let trades execute with less disruption to the quoted price. These remain project activity claims, not forecasts for EDEL's token price.

Collector Crypt, or CARDS, has a market capitalization around $250 million and a price around 28 cents in the analysis. Users open packs, buy cards and sell cards. The creator cites a CoinGecko post and a Dune dashboard to support their claim that participation is increasing.

I would separate platform activity from token demand. Market capitalization multiplies token price by circulating supply; it is not cash available to absorb selling. An active product can have a volatile token, and thin liquidity can let a modest order move the price sharply.

Citrini Research's wider crypto token basket includes trading infrastructure and other themes. The creator considers AI, asset tokenization, perpetuals and decentralized exchanges promising. Perpetuals are derivatives without a fixed expiry; decentralized exchanges enable trading through on-chain systems. Choosing a token within those themes remains difficult: a broad trend can succeed while an individual token captures little of its economic value.

AI sensitivity estimates need a narrow reading

The AI-assisted exercise compares selected altcoins with Bitcoin using September-to-October observations. It includes occasions when Bitcoin rises or falls 3% and averages the corresponding altcoin responses. The creator describes it as preliminary, not an in-depth model.

The displayed estimates per 1% Bitcoin move are:

  • NEAR at 3.04x.
  • PUMP at 2.60x.
  • AERO at 2.31x.
  • SOL at 1.78x.
  • UNI at 1.51x.
  • VVV at 1.49x.
  • HYPE at 0.98x.

I would read these as a record of which tokens recently amplified Bitcoin's moves, not fixed token properties. The same sensitivity that magnifies an upward move can enlarge losses. The video does not provide the full dataset or calculation rules.

A short sample can be dominated by a token-specific rally, liquidation event or temporary enthusiasm for a theme. Averages also hide variation: matching average responses can conceal different price paths and worst outcomes.

AI can organize data and perform calculations, but I would verify the underlying prices and selected periods before relying on the table. Each asset needs matching observation periods, and the calculation must distinguish percentage returns from price changes. Displayed precision cannot repair poor inputs.

The simplified example is a 1% Bitcoin decline corresponding to a roughly 3% NEAR move in the same direction. The creator says a longer history would be needed for a more substantial analysis. Even with more history, relationships can change as liquidity and token-specific conditions shift.

Check what would invalidate the target

I would evaluate a target by its source and the conditions attached to it:

  • Identify whether it comes from prior consolidation, support, resistance or a moving average.
  • Separate the Bitcoin scenario from the token-specific catalyst.
  • Establish what price behavior would weaken the chart argument.
  • Examine whether the token's economic role supports the activity or narrative claim.

A falling price does not automatically make a token safer. The response at the proposed level matters, as does whether the original reason for interest still holds. Beyond the chart, crypto tokens carry liquidity risk, protocol risk and custody risk. Before interacting with an unfamiliar platform, verify its site address and understand the wallet permissions it requests. Anyone with your private key can control the associated funds.

Common questions

What are the Aerodrome support targets in the analysis?

Nearer support is 76 to 79 cents, with 66 to 68 cents as a deeper scenario if Bitcoin and altcoins suffer another flush. Resistance sits around 87 cents.

What lower prices are in the NEAR analysis?

The lower scenarios are $4 and then $3.50 to $3.75 if Bitcoin rolls over. The more constructive scenario involves consolidation between $4.30 and $4.60 before another attempt at resistance.

Why can previous resistance become support?

After a breakout, buyers may return to an area where selling previously stopped a rise. That makes it a useful reference point, though the price can still break below it.

Can AI predict how an altcoin will move with Bitcoin?

AI can calculate historical sensitivity, but the result depends on the data and method. These preliminary estimates describe a short sample rather than a reliable multiplier for future moves.
